Profit and Loss

  1. Profit and Loss Overview: A summary pop-up provides a quick glance at your strategy’s performance:

    • Total Profit and Loss (Strategy): The P&L from your custom strategy.

    • Total Profit and Loss (Buy and Hold): The P&L from a passive "Buy and Hold" strategy for comparison.

    • Entry and Exit details, along with Mid Prices, give insight into the execution of both strategies, alongside the Buy and Sell Quantities.

  • P&L Summary: Compare the performance of your strategy against a Buy and Hold approach with a quick, at-a-glance overview.

  1. Buy & Hold Profit and Loss (P&L): £25.60 From this analysis, TradeTutor shows that the Buy & Hold strategy (simply buying the shares and holding them during the period) would have significantly outperformed the input strategy, which resulted in a loss of £51.81, compared to a £25.60 profit from a Buy & Hold approach. This means that while your strategy did generate some results, it underperformed compared to simply holding the shares over the same period.

Query Parameter

When you click on Query Parameter, it opens a window (like the one shown in the image) that provides detailed information about the trading strategy parameters. This includes specifics such as:

  • The type of indicator being used (e.g., SMA or other).

  • Quantities and percentages for buy and sell triggers.

  • Time ranges, date ranges, and time units.

  • Variables for determining buy and sell prices (in this case, based on the comparison between mid-price and the moving average).

This allows users to fully understand the criteria and conditions used to generate trading signals or perform backtests.

TradeTutor recognizes that the fluctuations in stock prices are often driven by current news events. As such, it provides unbiased, real-time news specifically related to the stock mentioned in the prompts.

For example, if a user requests information about Barclays stock, the news provided will focus exclusively on Barclays, offering valuable insights to help users make well-informed financial decisions.

TradeTutor's Feedback on Strategy Improvement:

TradeTutor would go ahead and make some improvement to the way you prompt

  1. Threshold Adjustment:

    • TradeTutor suggests that the thresholds for buying and selling (0.15%) might be too tight. These small percentage changes could be limiting the number of profitable trades you can make, resulting in fewer opportunities to capture larger market movements.

  2. Date Range Expansion:

    • TradeTutor advises considering a longer date range. This could potentially capture more fluctuations in the market and provide more trading opportunities, which could improve overall profitability.

Suggested Improved Strategy:

TradeTutor goes a step further by recommending tweaks to the user's strategy to increase potential profitability. Here's the suggested improvement:

It seems like the buy-and-hold strategy outperformed your trading strategy in this instance. To improve your strategy, you might want to consider adjusting the parameters. You could try reducing the "buy how much" and "sell how much" percentages to see if that results in more trades. Additionally, extending the date range could provide a broader perspective and potentially better results.

  • Buy: 500 shares when the Mid Price moves 0.01% above the 10-minute moving average.

  • Sell: 500 shares when the Mid Price moves 0.01% below the 10-minute moving average.

These adjustments lower the percentage threshold for triggering buy and sell actions, meaning the strategy will capture more frequent price movements, potentially generating more profitable trades.

TradeTutor also recommends testing this new strategy from July 1, 2024, to July 20, 2024, expanding the trading window to see if more opportunities arise.
